How to do the Project
The year-end project of the online MCA program is an integral part of the program. During the development of the project, the students should be involved in all the stages of the software development life cycle like requirements engineering, systems analysis, systems design, software development, testing strategies, and documentation with an overall significance to the development of reliable software systems. Given below are some of the major steps involved in the project.
- Select a topic of your choice and find a suitable guide to direct you.
- Submit the project proposal along with the necessary documents to the regional director of the concerned regional center.
- Carry out the project work.
- Prepare the project report.
- Submit the project report to the regional director of the regional center.
- Appear for the viva-voce when directed by the regional director.
Evaluation Criteria
Students, in order to be declared successful in a project, must secure a minimum of 40% marks in each section
1. Project work
2. Viva voce.
The project work consists of 150 marks and viva-voce is for 50 marks. It is compulsory for a student to pass in both the sections. If a student submits the project report on time as per the schedule and fails to attend the viva, her/his project will remain incomplete and they should contact the regional center coordinator for further updates. The viva-voce will be held at the concerned regional center and will be conducted face to face only. Viva voce conducted from the examiner’s workplace, the residence of the examiner, or conducted through telephone, e-mail or online will not be acceptable in any case. In very exceptional cases, these can be done but only after taking due permission from the director, SOCIS. The expenditure for the same would be borne by the student.

Sample topics for Projects
Topic selection for a project is a little tough task. The topic selected by the students should be complex and large enough to justify as an MCA project. It should be original and should not be copied from anywhere else. Students can not take topics from the mini project or do not repeat the topic done at the BCA level. Some of the sample topics for the distance MCA project are
- Online Bookstore e-commerce application
- Automatic search engine optimization.
- Organ sharing donator finder application
- Warehouse management system.
- Logistic management system.
