Introduction

Indira Gandhi National Open University situated in New Delhi offers 200+ academic online and distance learning programs. It is the largest university in the world with an enrollment of 3 million students. The BCA distance program offered by IGNOU is one of the top ten online BCA programs. The duration of the program is three years comprising 6 semesters. Some of the major courses discussed in the program are Programming in C++, java, system analysis, design, etc…the program includes 38 courses + one project course with a total of 99 credits. The university conducts term-end examinations twice a year and gives assignments as per the schedules. Counseling sessions will be provided at regular intervals. IGNOU follows a semester system for all programs including BCA.

Yes, Foreign students residing in India with a valid student visa for the minimum duration of the program can seek admission to IGNOU’s selected programs.

The candidates who wish to apply for the BCA distance program should score a minimum of 50% marks in the 10+2 or equivalent program.

No, IGNOU doesn’t conduct entrance examinations for the distance BCA program.

It is not necessary but would be appreciated as the medium of instruction is English.

The students can expect the declaration of the results after 45 days of the conclusion of the exam. If needed they can also request the early publishing of results by paying an extra fee.

The students should receive a minimum of 70 % of attendance to be eligible to appear for the term-end examination.

Students doing a program of one year or longer can enroll for certificate or diploma courses of six months duration.

No fee will be refunded if a student decides to withdraw mid-session.

Yes, the university provides reservation seats for students belonging to scheduled castes, scheduled tribes, and those physically handicapped as per the rules of the Government of India.

The total fee for the three-year BCA distance program is Rs. 40,200/- to be paid semester-wise (Rs. 6700/- per semester)
