Bachelor of Computer Applications is a three-year undergraduate program, an open road to the boundless world of information and technology. The eligibility criteria to join the BCA program offered by IGNOU is just similar to any other undergraduate course,l.e. the completion of 10 and +2 with at least 50% marks. The program helps the learners to set up a strong base in computer applications which would be beneficial for further studies or for an advanced career in this field. A BCA degree is considered to be at par with Btech/BE degree in computer science. The program discusses topics like database management systems, operating systems, software engineering, web technology, and languages like C, C++, HTML, JAVA, etc. IGNOU’s BCA program is available for students in both online and distance modes. Admissions to the distance BCA program are taken in two sessions one in January and the other in July. The whole program includes six semesters, two semesters per year ( January to June and July to December). The syllabus comprises 25 theory courses, 13 practical courses, and one project course. IGNOU also provides compulsory counseling sessions to the students. The date and time of these sessions will be informed by the concerned regional centers. Consequently, there will be two examinations conducted every year, one after each semester. While preparing for the term-end examination the students shall ensure that they have fulfilled all the requirements like payment of the exam fee and ample attendance etc. The results of these exams will be declared within 45 days.

Admissions for the BCA distance program are conducted twice every year, one in January and the other in July. Students with a minimum of 45-50% marks in their +2 or equivalent course can apply for the program. Admission to the July session of the program is now open and the last date for the submission of the application form is 31st July. The important deadlines regarding the admission and registration process will be announced on the official website of the university. The students can apply for admission in two different ways. They can either visit the nearest regional center and fill out the application form from there and apply offline or it can be submitted online directly through the IGNOU’s website by completing a few procedures.

Admission Procedure
The duration of the distance Bachelor of Computer Application program conducted by IGNOU is a minimum of three years and a maximum of six years. IGNOU provides primary study materials and conducts counseling sessions for its students in connection with the learner’s support centers. The students should also do some additional readings. In the distance/online mode, learning is always student-centered.
