Introduction

Indira Gandhi National Open University, the largest open university in the world is the most familiar among the students for its best and most cost-effective distance and online learning programs. IGNOU was established in 1985 at Maidan Garhi, New Delhi. The university offers more than 200 academic courses at certificate, diploma, and degree levels. Moreover, it is the first among the top ten universities that offer distance/ online  MCA classes. 

IGNOU’s distance MCA is a two-year program during which the students will be able to study a wide range of topics in Computer Science and Application. The students will receive help and guidance from the University through Regional Centers, Learner Support centers and also from IGNOU’s official website. 

FAQ-Distance MCA

 To get enrolled in the IGNOU distance MCA program one has to go through the registration and application process which can be done online through the official website. 

IGNOU distance MCA program can be completed in a minimum of 2 years and a maximum of 4 years.

The last date for IGNOU distance MCA admission January session is Mar 15, 2022.

The total fee for the two-year distance MCA program is Rs. 48,000/- to be paid semester-wise ( Rs. 12000/- per semester).

IGNOU conducts admission to MCA programs based on the marks scored in the qualifying examination. 

 IGNOU University takes no entrance test for distance MCA admission.

Distance MCA admission takes place twice a year, in January and July.

IGNOU offers its selected programs for international students through its overseas Partner Institutes which render student support services to such students in accepting the forms, assignments, synopsis, project and conducting the examination on behalf of IGNOU, etc. The students intending to pursue the IGNOU programs should contact the concerned Partner Institute in their vicinity and fill out the admission form along with the requisite fees within the prescribed date.

The candidate who completes assignments, theory papers, practicals, projects, and viva becomes eligible for the award of a degree by the University. 

For the A candidate to take an examination at a place where there is no overseas Partner Institute the candidate has to obtain written permission from the Indian Embassy of the respective country for taking the examination at the Indian mission. However, the examination would be conducted as per the Indian Standard Time (IST).

A Candidate can apply for a duplicate degree by enclosing a copy of the program pursued with respective enrollment NO. along with a fee of USD 40 for non-SAARC countries or INR 400 for students from SAARC countries.  

One can apply for a re-admission for all the incomplete courses in a program. After the maximum duration of  MCA i.e. 04 years, two more years of re-admission time are left for completing the incomplete courses. candidate can only take a re-admission by paying a pro-rata fee.

Yes, but under certain conditions. Candidates who have enrolled in a program of one year or longer can register for any 6 months program but are not permitted to pursue two academic programs simultaneously of one year or longer duration.
